I don't agree with this definition, otherwise we could say that the universe is the mind of itself and that biology is the mind of life. The mind always looked like something that thinks and has self-awareness.
I guess all depends on how exactly we define mind. In my last book I argue that what I call the cosmic operating system thinks and has some kind of self-awareness. Samuel Alexander thought of a hierarchy of levels, where each level is the "mind" of the level that comes before and the "body" of the level that comes after.
