Irrational mechanics SECOND DRAFT 08.22.24
DRAFT narrative sketch of a futurist science & a new religion.
In March I made the first draft of my new book “Irrational mechanics: Narrative sketch of a futurist science & a new religion” open to a group of early readers.
I wish to thank the many early readers who have sent me feedback. Some early readers have read the draft carefully, cover to cover, and sent me very useful comments and suggestions.
I’m now sharing the second draft with my early readers.
The group of early readers includes all paid subscribers to this newsletter.
The cover art and the list of chapters are in the picture above.
The book is pretty short (I’m from the “less is more” school). I gave myself strict length limits of 3000 to 4000 words for each chapter.
The online draft is a live document on Google Drive. All readers can comment and suggest edits. Besides the chapters that will be published, the online draft includes a Notepad for the ongoing revision process.
I’ve also shared downloadable snapshots of the draft (in .pdf, .epub, and ,mobi format) as of August 22.
I plan to publish the book before the end of September after another (much faster) revision. Of course I could continue to try and make the book better and better, but that would go on forever. At some point, one just has to say that good enough is good enough. I keep reminding myself that I can’t and don’t have to make this book perfect: I just have to make it as good as I can.
If we know and like each other, feel free to ask me to add you to the group of early readers. If not, you can become a paid subscriber to this newsletter and get access. The access coordinates are below, right after the paywall.
